Well my time here has been moving so fast that sometimes it’s hard to believe that its already time to try to give another update. I don’t always have a lot of exciting news to share, my days mainly consist of studying, eating, sleeping, and going to class. I am still working to observe 10 births before I move on to charting for births and the shifts I have been on lately have been a bit slow. This is an awesome opportunity to get to know those I am working with better, and learn some other birth room necessities like restocking and sterilization techniques. We continue to have lessons in the local language, and while I am not able to directly translate any conversation in the birthroom, I am often able to understand the concept of a conversation that the midwife is having with the patient. I am very thankful for our language tutor Ate Bebe, she is so much fun and teaches us well!
It is quite a warm morning here, and after class a little later today I will head out to do some studying with a friend at a coffee shop. The coffee shops where we are regulars have started to know us well already! It is often easier to spend time studying during the heat of the day in a coffee shop where there is air conditioning and no fans to blow your papers and pages around. I hear that it is harvest time at home and I am missing the change of seasons as the weather here remains the same most days. Hope everyone is enjoying the start of fall, maybe you could send some my way if you think of it?
