It’s an older song from a quite a few years ago, but while I was still living at home, Telus used it in one of their commercials. “The Final Countdown” has stuck with me for a few years now, popping up once in awhile with its catchy tune. This morning as I climbed aboard a jeepney going to the clinic, it began blaring through the speakers. It seemed to be opportune timing as today I am putting the finishing touches on a large assignment. As many stories as there are about the hours I spend learning and serving at the clinic, I spend just as many hours hunched over my computer researching and writing about midwifery skills. Although not as exciting as the hours spent in the birth room, these are at least as important, if not more, and they come with their own hurdles, doubts and fears. Little niggles of doubt settle in as I hit the print button – what important facts did I neglect to include? Will my 30 pages measure up to someone else’s 50? Sometimes it comes down to the very last days before I breathe a sigh of relief – I really am gonna finish this one by the deadline.
So for a little comic relief:
