It has been a long week. Much of it was spent in prayer and concern. On Thursday my teammate (R) with dengue who had been ok remaining at home had platelet results low enough to cause significant concern and she was also admitted to the hospital. Fortunately it was able to be arranged for her to share a room with our other sick teammate (M). This allowed them to share each others company and also lightened the load for the rest of us as only 1 person was needed to stay with them at a time. For M, the platelet levels remained frustratingly stable, not rising significantly. For R, the levels dropped low enough at one point for the dr to order several units of blood to be available in case they were needed. Fortunately her levels rose fairly significantly out of the danger zone quite quickly. Today there was much cheering as M’s platelets rose all the way to 98 and the doc indicated she would likely be able to go home tomorrow. R’s Platelets also made huge progress and are now 72. Hopefully her platelets will continue to rise significantly through the night enough that she will be able to be discharged tomorrow and able to attend for awhile at the celebration concluding our 2 years here. Thank you so much to all who have been praying – they mean so much to both ladies. Prayer for a good rest tonight, continued healing, and the attention and cooperation of the doctor tomorrow are appreciated.
